"What Happens Now?"

This stark question confronts individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families as they approach 21 years of age , when public school support ends. For over a decade, their lives were anchored by structure and consistency—essential elements for those with IDD. The abrupt loss of this stability can be devastating. Often, families feel abandoned, left to navigate this complex period alone. However, The Arc of Monmouth offers vital support, providing answers and guidance to this daunting question.

Born from a meeting of concerned families at Red Bank Borough Hall in 1949, The Arc of Monmouth is committed to transforming the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To accomplish this, we seek full inclusion through advocacy and programs designed to help people with IDD achieve their potential. Supported Employment helps people with IDD gain meaningful employment in the community and explore their strengths and interests, an opportunity often times they have not had. Day Habilitation programs help people with IDD develop important life skills such as socializing, resume building, cooking, and so much more. These are just two examples of the many programs offered at The Arc of Monmouth that help people with IDD build confidence and a life of independence and inclusion.
